Funny how something so simple and clean
Can be something quite deadly – caffeine
Sure, one may not think of it as such
Neither did I very much
That is until that fateful day
When I did something early that day
Sitting on my bed while drinking a pop
Was when I noticed my limbs starting to drop
This wasn't the typical sort of exhaustion
Granted I did go without sleep, I forgot to mention.
Shaking my head and capping the bottle
Was when I felt my heart go full throttle.
Everything within my vision went black
This far beyond a dizziness attack.
Next thing I know four hours have passed
And the dizziness and tension feel gone at last.
I didn't touch the Dew after that night
And I never will after that bit of fright.
Ah... of all the random things to have a hypersensitivity to...

Some history on this. It was 2004. I was rushing to finish finals for a few classes and needed to pull an all nighter. What better way than with some soda, ja?

I ended up drinking a 24 pkg of Pitch Black Mountain Dew. I finished my project, then headed home sipping on a bottle of mountain dew that I got from one of the vending machines. I kept getting dizzy, though.

When I got back to my apartment my vision was going in and out and my chest was killing me. I could feel my heart beating like crazy. I sat down and capped my soda.

Honestly, I don't remember anything after that. I came to staring at the ceiling. Four hours had passed from the time I got home to that point.

^^; I guess it's a good thing my heart didn't explode or that I didn't get diabetes or something, ja?
